You will experience first-hand outdoor adventures, including climbing on a glacier, and an optional 2-hour hike. Except for our nights in Reykjavik, I love that we will be staying in a cozy, family-owned and run farm guesthouse, where it is possible to visit the sheep and taste local food produced by the farmers.

After breakfast our guide will pick us up at 8:30am for our daytrip to the Golden Circle. We’ll drive to Thingvellir National Park where some of us will experience a unique snorkeling tour in Silfra. Those who do not wish to do the snorkeling will walk with our guide in the park along the fault lines that make evident the rifting of the earth’s crust. We‘ll hear about the major historical events that have taken place here and come to understand why we are stood in a UNESCO world heritage site.

Silfra is a fissure between the North American and Eurasian continental plates. The fissure constantly fills with glacial water that has been trickling through underground lava rock for 30 years. This remarkable crack between two tectonic plates is therefore filled with the clearest water on our planet, allowing for over 100 meters visibility.

On the snorkeling tour we will be given a dry suit and be guided through the four parts of the Silfra fissure. Floating through Silfra's crystal clear water is an otherworldly experience; the near-freezing water, astonishing colors, and sensations of flying provide a very unique environment for liquid meditation that you will never forget. This experience includes time to learn about the experience, time to dress and 30 minutes in the water…a total of 2.5 hrs.
